Cass's obituary from The Goole Weekly Times, 1890.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Cass, William Eden, 1801-1890 : William Eden Cass was born and educated at Howden, East Yorkshire where his father was a doctor. After receiving medical training at Guy's Hospital London, he accompanied Sir James Ross on his expedition of 1822, and went on a whaling voyage to the Canadian Arctic with Captain Blyth in 1824. Dr. Cass married Ann Earnshaw in 1834 and practiced medicine in Goole, Yorkshire until shortly before his death in 1890; he was an active participant in community medicine and local politics, being in youth a Whig and later a Conservative.Additional information:General note:The papers were received at various times from various sources; for details see series descriptions.Location of originals note:Original of "A journal of Voyage to Davis Straits and Baffin Bay" is held by Mrs. E.E.
