The fonds also contains photographs showing ballet performances of Romeo and Juliet, [ca. 1967]; and posters designed by Kay Ambrose from the 1956-1958 seasons of the National Ballet of Canada.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:National Ballet of Canada : The National Ballet of Canada is one of Canada's three largest professional ballet companies, along with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. It is a classical company whose repertoire also includes contemporary works. It was established in 1951 by English dancer and choreographer Celia Franca at the invitation of a group of interested Canadians. Miss Franca, who became the company's founding artistic director, retired in 1975 and was succeeded first by David Haber and then by Alexander Grant. The National Ballet is based in Toronto, where it performs at the O'Keefe Centre, and regularly tours both nationally and internationally.Additional information:General note:Photographs and textual records received in 1983 from the National Ballet of Canada.
