The title is based on the content of the material. The unit was formerly entitled: Army, Establishments in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Custodial history:

Additional Manuscripts 11286, which was added to the holdings of the British Museum (now the British Library) in 1837, consists of a quarto volume, written by G. Hetzler in 1733, which contains the Establishments of His Majesty's Land Forces in Great Britain, Ireland, Minorca, Gibraltar and the Plantations; the State of the Ordnance at Gibraltar; and the Succession of Colonels to the several troops and regiments. In 1915, the National Archives of Canada transcribed the title page of the volume and one small excerpt from it (ff. 1, 36).
