Byng, who commanded in Barrie's absence, 1825-1827, 5 cm (Volume 3).Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Barrie, Robert, 1774-1840 : Robert Barrie was born at Sanquhar, N.B., served in the navy during the Napoleonic Wars and in 1819 was appointed acting commissioner of the dockyard in Kingston. He was responsible for superintending all naval and victualling establishments on the Lakes. In 1827 he became commodore of that station, where he remained until the dissolution of the establishment in 1834.
