The fonds consists of the records of the Catholic Women's League of Canada. It includes photographs depicting its activities, including delegates to several national conventions; delegates to the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations General Assembly held in Antigonish, Nova Scotia; CWL National Executive at presentation of resolutions to the Federal Government, 1982; events held between 1959 and 1964 by the St. Hubert RCAF Council and the St. Jean Diocesan Coucil of the CWL; CWL Mission at Winisk,(formerly Weenusk) in Northern Ontario; visit to Argentina by Jean Mahoney, on behalf of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, 1983; and the presentation of a 50 year membership pin. There are also sound recordings, 1980-1983, of an interview with Ruth Cooney, National President of the Catholic Women's League of Canada on CHFX-FM Halifax; official opening speeches of the Catholic Women's League National Convention by F.S. Spence, E. Troy, F. MacDonald, and Marion Reid on subjects such as marriage, the future of the couple and the election of officers; and the proceedings of the closing banquet of the 62nd Annual National Convention of the Catholic Women's League of Canada. Film and video recordings include one commercial entitled Twinkle Star, sponsored by the CWL and the Roman Catholic Church and produced by Pro-Life Broadcasting Inc. of Toronto, 1979, and a video interview of Jean Mahoney, CWL National President, 1983.
The fonds also holds textual records arranged in the following series: Constitution and By-Laws; Annual conventions; Annual reports; Resolutions briefs; Correspondence; Correspondence - Resolutions; Correspondence - National Executive; Committees; Subject files; Provincial Councils; Military Vicariate Councils; Diocesan Councils; Printed Material; and Other material. Some of this material includes: one carbon copy of the 9th St. Hubert RCAF Council CWL Annual Report, 4 June 1960; a copy of the 1959 CWL annual program of events scheduled by the St. Hubert RCAF Council; copies of the 5th and 6th annual CWL Diocesan Convention programs for the St. Jean Diocesan Council, held in June 1960 and 1961; 5 newspaper clippings concerning reports on various local CWL meetings held in 1960 and 1961, including local news and events pertaining to certain CWL members; (loose in a photo album), 1 newspaper clipping and 4 photocopies of newspapers concerning the international campaign, by Argentine grandmothers, to determine the fate of children abducted by the Argentine military during the so called "dirty war", from 1976 to 1981.
