Fonds consists of the records of the Canadian Society for the Study of Religion. It includes correspondence, bulletins, essays and papers, financial records, membership lists, publications, and programs and minutes of meetings and conferences. There is also correspondence, reports and memoranda relating to the International Association for the History of Religions' Congress held in Manitoba in 1980.

Canadian Society for the Study of Religion : The Canadian Society for the Study of Religion was established in 1966 by Professor W. Nicholls of the University of British Columbia, Professors G. Grant and E. Combs of McMaster University and Professors B. Sinyard and S. McDonough of Sir George Williams University.

The Society provides a forum for the exchange of ideas by scholars working in the various areas of religious studies; encourages research in the academic study of religion in Canada; and promotes a critical examination of the goals, methodology and style of teaching demanded by the discipline.

The Society holds annual meetings in conjunction with the Learned Societies of Canada. It participates in the work of the Humanities Research Council of Canada and is a member of the International Association for the History of Religions.
