Date:1812-1813.Reference:MG12-ADM8Type of material:Textual materialFound in:Archives / Collections and FondsItem ID number:105194Date(s):1812-1813.Place of creation:No place, unknown, or undeterminedExtent:1 microfilm reel negative and positive.Language of material:EnglishScope and content:Admiralty 8 consists of 174 volumes of List Books, the disposition of ships from 1673 to 1909. The National Archives of Canada has copied only volume 100 which relates to the War of 1812 and consists of five lists, 1812-1813, providing the "disposition of His Majesty's Ships and Vessels in Sea Pay". Information listed includes ships' name, rate, number of guns and men, when commissioned, when sailed from England, where stationed, and name of Admiral commanding the station. The lists also make provision for noting Commanders, Lieutenants, and disposition. The list for December 1813 is incomplete as it only includes ships on the following stations: East Indies, Cape of Good Hope, South America, Leeward Island, Jamaica, and North America. It does not include the "Abstract of the Monthly List" nor the "General Abstract" nor alphabetical ship index all of which are included in the other lists. The ship index is alphabetical only to the first letter, and the page number referred to, is the contemporary written pagination not the latter page numbers stamped by the Public Record Office. This material is located on microfilm reel B-5339.Subject heading:- Great Britain. Navy - History, 1812-1813
