Cameron, John, 1778-1829 : John Cameron (1778-1829) was the son of a Loyalist of the same name, an innkeeper of Charlottenburg. John Cameron (called "Rich" because of the wealth of property he inherited from his father) was born in New York State. He was elected the first Member of the Legislative Assembly for Glengarry County in 1816, and served until 1820. He was also active in the Glengarry Militia from 1803. He married Elizabeth Summers (1775-1821) and they had six children, John Cameron died at his home in Fairfield, Summertown, Glengarry County in 1829.
