Correspondence of members of the Rooth family discussing family matters and political events, 1827-1856; the marriage licence of John Mitchell Jr. and Barbara McIntosh, 1829; and genealogical notes about members ofthe Warren, Baldwin, Rooth, Anderson, Jackson and Warren families, 1924. Originals, 25 pages. There is also Rooth's official letter book, dating from 1829-1849. The letter book incorporates Rooth's service as Deputy Assistant Quartermaster General in Lower Canada (April 1829-May 1934), and then as Public Advocate at Fort Erie, Upper Canada.

Rooth, Benjamin (family) : Major Benjamin Rooth (1787-1849) served with the 76th Regiment of Foot in Ireland and ca. 1829 was posted to Canada where he served as Town Major in Montreal, 1830-1834. He subsequently settled in Quebec with his wife, Caroline Anderson, and together they had nine children. Their daughter, Caroline Elizabeth Rooth (1834-1894) married James Jackson (1820-1904) and they settled in the Niagara District, Upper Canada. Benjamin and Caroline Rooth both died at Fort Erie, Upper Canada and are buried there.
