War Office 33 consists of 2,320 volumes of printed reports and memoranda on a wide range of important military questions. The papers were originally subjected to a security classification and were specially printed and given a limited circulation. The National Archives as copied selected extracts of papers relating to the defences of British North America, 1862 and 1865, and to the Nile Expedition, 1883-1885. The microfilmed originals are available on microfilm reel B-1820. The photocopies of volumes 11 and 15 are available on microfilm reel C-12586.
