From 1860, the information was abstracted and later superseded in the printed Monthly Returns, Distribution on the Army (WO 73).
The National Archives has acquired microfilmed returns to the Adjutant General, showing the distribution and effective strengh of British troops in the Canadas, 1758-1865, Newfoundland, 1812-1865, and Nova Scotia commands, 1807-1865, and of British, Provincial and German Troops serving in Canada, 1776-1786. These show the locations of each regiment in the command and its effective strength in all ranks with the names of all commissioned officers absent and present. They give general particulars as to the health of the regiments with the dates of death of officers dying within the month and the numbers of men discharged for any cause.
