The manufacture of automobile tires in Ontario. Shown is the complete process of making tires in early days. Extreme close up shows fabric for building cord tires being impregnated with rubber, passing through rollers in a machine, and hand made cord tire mounted ready to receive next section of cord. Close up of a hand applying a coat of cement and laying material, two men molding this material around the tire (8 ply of material is applied, one after the other). Extreme close up of applying and securing the bias material on the tires, shows the "bead" and how it is placed on the tire, man applying a strip of canvas which protects the rubber from friction against the wheel rim, the final tread coming off the machine, man laying rubber tread on wheel, finishing the side walls of the tires, removing tire from mount and removing the mould from inside the tire, machine made tires, and a short sequence of a man laying material on tire and machine, and rolling the material down.
