The thirteen colonies were the British colonies in North America that became the original states of the United States of America. They included New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia

Additional Manuscript 15489 is a miscellaneous collection of papers, relating to the colonies of New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York. It was added to the holdings of the British Library in 1845 and transcribed by the National Archives of Canada at some time prior to 1908. The transcripts were bound, together with a small excerpt from Egerton MSS. 2395 (ff. 199-201), in a volume entitled Papers Relating to New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, &c., which originally constituted Volume 382 of the old "M" Series. This volume was unbound in 1990 and its contents separated.
