Fonds consists of diaries of Lord Derby, 15th Earl, during the period he held office as colonial secretary, 1882-1885, and private correspondence with Lord Lansdowne, 1884-1885, and general correspondence regarding Canadian affairs, 1879-1891. The diaries, with index in the form of a list of daily events, are located on microfilm reel A-1640. The correspondence is located on microfilm reel A-32.

Derby, Edward Henry Stanley, Earl of, 1826-1893 : Edward Henry Stanley, 15th Earl of Derby KG, PC, FRS (21 July 1826 - 21 April 1893), known as Lord Stanley from 1844 to 1869, was a British statesman. He served as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs twice, from 1866 to 1868 and from 1874 to 1878.
