4 photographs b&w.Language of material:EnglishScope and content:Fonds consists of correspondence relating to the Canadian National Railway; notes on Moore's trip to Japan to attend the Institute of Pacific Relations Conference; miscellaneous speeches, clippings and memoranda; sympathy notes on Moore's stroke in 1942 and death in 1946; and memorabilia. The fonds also contains photographs including a group photograph of delegates to the 33rd Annual Convention of the Trades and Labour Congress of Canada, Ottawa, Ont., September 1917.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Moore, Tom, 1878-1946 : Tom Moore came to Canada from England in 1909 settling in Niagara Falls and resuming his trade of carpentry. He joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and in 1911 was appointed eastern Canadian organizer. He was president of the Trades and Labour Congress of Canada from 1918 to 1935, and again from 1939 to 1943. In addition to serving on Royal Commissions on industrial relations (1919), and on employment and social development, he was labour's representative on the board of directors of the Canadian National Railway from 1922 to 1933.
