Early mining techniques are depicted by etchings and still photos. The film examines above-ground operations at DOSCO, and follows miners on their 1,700 foot descent and 4 mile sojourn out under the bed of the Atlantic Ocean, where they labour in areas less than 4 feet in height. The combustible nature of the mine necessitated the use of non-electrical equipment in filming; hand-cranked tape recorders and cameras were used in the production, and the miners' safety lamps supplied the only source of light underground. <30mn>Language:EnglishDetailed holdings information: -
