Fonds consists of four letters from James Monk to Germain, together with one from Sir Clifton Wintringham recommending Monk and enclosing a letter from him, all of which are concerned with the affairs of Nova Scotia, 1775-1779. Transcripts, 27 pages. Also included is a memorial of Alexander Gray, Receiver General of Quebec, to Lord Germain, concerning the destruction, during the American invasion of 1776, of property belonging to William Grant, 2 pages.

Sackville, George Sackville Germain, Viscount, 1716-1785 : George Sackville Germain was known as Lord George Sackville until 1770, when he assumed the name Germain, under which he is best known. He pursued a career in the army and in Parliament, serving as President of the Board of Trade and Plantations, 1775-1779, and Secretary of State for the Colonies, 1776-1782.
