Item is an indenture of sale to the State of New York for 700 pounds, of lands south of the Mohawk River, by Mohawk (and possibly members of the Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee)) formerly of the Mohawk Castle, Fort Hunter, Montgomery County (formerly Tryon County), N.Y., but currently of the Nassau District, Que., dated 9 July 1789. It bears the signatures of Thayendanegea (Captain Joseph Brant) and Karonghyontye (Captain David Hill), as well as of many members of the Hill family and of other First Nations peoples.
