Fonds consists of two handwritten copies of John Rutherfurd's "Narrative of a captivity among the Indians in 1763", with a few biographical notes by his son Thomas Rutherfurd. The account was written shortly after Rutherfurd's escape from his Ojibwe captors during the early stages of Pontiac's War.
