Fonds consists of personal papers, 1928-1940, 1949-1975; and legal files of judgements, authorities, and notes for legal decisions, 1960-1967.

The fonds also contains photographs of the investiture of Benjamin Robinson as judge of the Superior Court of Montreal, 1960; and photographic portraits of Robinson, 1920-1969.

Robinson, Benjamin, 1892-1968 : Benjamin Robinson was born in Kovel, Russia in 1892 and after spending some time in the U.S.A. he immigrated to Canada in 1915. He received his B.A. at Harvard in 1915 and was called to Quebec Bar in 1919 after receiving his B.C.L. from McGill the previous year. In 1923 he formed a legal partnership with J.J. Schapiro which existed until Robinson's appointment to the Superior Court, Montreal in 1960.

He was President of the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society of Canada from 1928 to 1943. He served on the executive of the Canadian Jewish Congress from 1938 until he was sent to the bench and was President of the Montreal Advocates Benevolent Association and first President of the Lord Reading Society.
