Babbage, Richard Henry : Richard H. Babbage, born in 1883 in Ireland, came to Canada in 1909. He worked as a journalist in British Columbia and in Calgary, and served overseas in the First World War. In 1922 he joined the staff of the Montreal Star. He became the Assistant Editor of The Family Herald and Weekly Star in 1937, a position he held until his retirement in 1949.
