Fonds consists of correspondence of Mrs. Kate Massiah consisting of letters received from prominent political figures chiefly regarding the establishment of a Department of Public Health; letters from Members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force overseas and in rehabilitation centres, 1915-1919; material concerning the role of women in the Great War, 1914-1918; party newspapers, 1901, 1913-1930, 1935-1936; and a few condolence letters written to her son on her death in 1936.

Massiah, Kate, d. 1936 : Kate Massiah kept up a very active correspondence during the First World War with soldiers predominantly in military hospitals. Amongst the things she sent them were letters of support, gifts of food and clothing. She was also a very active correspondent with Prime Minister's Laurier, Borden, Meighen, Bennett and King and expressed her views in her letters on the role of women during wartime and on the establishment of the Department of Health. She resided in both Lachute, Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario during her career as a journalist.
