Fonds consists of correspondence; addresses and articles; U.F.O. government, notes and clippings on various groups of settlers in the West, the Toronto Milk Producers' Association, and miscellaneous material; manuscript; Ontario separate schools; Life of Jonathan Sissons, typed material and miscellaneous; letters to Sophie Ryerson; book of Jonathan Sissons and album; notebook of Dr. Le Sueur; newspaper clippings; account book.

Photographic material consists of unidentified carte-de-visite portraits, possibly of the Shaver family, portraits of C.B. Sissons, portrait of J.S. Woodsworth; view of a house.

Sissons, Charles Bruce, 1879-1965 : Charles Bruce Sissons, university professor, was born in 1879 at Crown Hill, Ont., and received his education from Victoria College, University of Toronto, from which he graduated with a Gold Medal in Classics, 1901, and from Oxford University, 1908-1909. He taught in both primary and secondary schools, prior to his studies at Oxford University. In 1909 he became a lecturer in Ancient History and Classics at Victoria College, University of Toronto, was Associate Professor from 1912-1919, and Professor of Ancient History from 1919 until 1947. He retired from the Nelles Chair in Greek and Roman History in 1947. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 1948.

Most of Professor Sissons' writing was concerned with education. His first book, Bilingual Schools in Canada, appeared in 1917, the second volume of Egerton Ryerson, His Life and Letters, in 1947. The History of Victoria College, was published in 1952, My dearest Sophie in 1955, Church and State in Canadian Education in 1959 and Nil Alienum - The Memoirs of C.B. Sissons in 1964. He was interested, however, in matters beyond the cause of education. He was the secretary of the Ontario Housing Commission, 1918-1919 and political editor of the Canadian Forum, 1921-1924.
