Saskatchewan. Royal Grain Inquiry Commission : Chief Justice J. T. Brown of the Saskatchewan Court of Queen's Bench, Mr. J. A. Stoneman, and Dean W. J. Rutherford were appointed commissioners, 10 November 1928, under the Public Inquiries Act of Saskatchewan to investigate the grading, mixing, handling and marketing of Western Canadian grain. The governments of Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario subsequently appointed the commissioners to be such under the Public Inquiries Act of their respective provinces. The commission worked in co-operation with the Board of Grain Commissioners and the Department of Trade and Commerce.

An interim report was submitted to the Government of Saskatchewan, 17 April 1929, and further hearings were held in other provinces up to 30 August 1929.
