Hambourg, Michael, 1856-1916 : Michael Hambourg, born in Yaroslav, was a pupil of Nicholas Rubinstein at the Moscow Conservatory and later a professor of piano there himself. He settled in England around 1890, where he continued to teach music until 1911, when he immigrated to Canada. He was the father of pianist Mark Hambourg, violinist Jan Hambourg and cellist Boris Hambourg, and, with the latter two, established the Hambourg Conservatory in Toronto, Ont.
