Pope, James Colledge, 1826-1885 : The Hon. James Colledge Pope, born on Prince Edward Island, was educated in England. He was a land agent, proprietor, entrepreneur and shipowner. He was premier of Prince Edward Island, 1865-1867, 1870-1873, and member of the House of Commons 1873, 1876-1882, serving as Minister of Marine and Fisheries, 1878-1882.
