Fonds consists of miscellaneous correspondence and memoranda, camera clubs and associations, along with printed material.

Fonds also consists of salon photographs by Otto John Eaton depicting such subjects as the stair railings at the Seigniory Club, children, friends and acquaintences of Mr. Otto Eaton along with pictorial and nature views.

Eaton, Otto John, 1895-1982 : Otto J. Eaton, amateur photographer, was born on September 18 in Toronto. He was a conscientious objector in the First World War. Eaton began a long career with the T. Eaton Company Ltd., Toronto, immediately after leaving school. He worked in their General and Sales offices, Stock Audit, and Stock Control and Marketing Room before joining the Controller's Office in 1954. He retired in 1960.

Otto Eaton's principal hobby was photography and he was active in the Eaton Camera Club from the 1940s, being for a time its president and continuing to be involved after his retirement from the firm. He first became a member of the Toronto Camera Club in 1923 but left after two years to work on his own. During the Depression, he began working part-time as a semi-professional photographer, largely in portraiture. He rejoined the Toronto Camera Club in 1939 and became involved in its executive. He was elected president in the early 1940s and after 1963 acted as treasurer or honorary treasurer. He died in Toronto on November 7.

Throughout his association with camera clubs, Eaton gave many lectures on pictorial photography and served as judge at photographic exhibitions and salons, largely in the Toronto area. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain in 1939.
