Wrong, George M., 1860-1948 : George Wrong, historian, born in Elgin County, was educated at the University of Toronto. Ordained a priest in the Church of England, he lectured in ecclesiastical history and liturgies at Wycliffe, 1883-1893 and in history at the University of Toronto, 1892-1894. He was head of the department of History, University of Toronto, 1894-1927.

In addition, he was founder and first editor of the Review of Historical Publications Relating to Canada, which was established in 1897. He was also a member of the first Board of Directors of the Canadian Historical Review, the publication which succeeded the Review of Historical Publications in 1920. He served as the first editorial secretary of the Champlain Society, when it was founded in 1905 and general editor of the society's publications until 1924.
