Fonds consists of an address of the Quebec Indians (Hurons-wendat of Wendake/Lorette) to the Prince of Wales on the occasion of Quebec Tercentenary celebrations, 1908, photocopy in volume 1 and original in volume 3; diaries dealing with his career as a soldier and diplomat in Ottawa, Washington and Europe, original, 1942-1956, volumes 1-2; letter from General A.G.L. McNaughton, original, 1945, and letter from Mackenzie King regarding the Prime Minister's forthcoming retirement, photocopy (4 pages), 1948, volume 2.

Pope, Maurice Arthur, 1889-1978 : Maurice Arthur Pope, born in 1889 at Rivière-du-Loup, joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1915 and served overseas in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He held such positions as, Brigadier-General of the Canadian Military headquarters in London, Vice-Chief of the general staff in Ottawa, 1941, Chairman of the Canadian Joint Staff Mission in Washington, 1942-1944, and military staff officer to Prime Minister W.L. Mackenzie King. In 1945, he became Chief of the Canadian Military Mission in Berlin.

He served as Ambassador to Belgium, 1950-1953, and to Spain, 1953-1956. In 1962 his memoirs, Soldiers and Politicians, were published.
