Fonds consists of two letters from Malcolm "Dan" McMurachy to the Rt. Hon. James G. Gardiner enclosing a signed statement and a newspaper clipping describing how he discovered and developed the rust-resistant Selkirk wheat at Shoal Lake, Man., during the years 1930-1935.

Gardiner, James G. (James Garfield), 1883-1962 : James Garfield Gardiner, born in 1883 at Farquhar, Ont., received his education from Manitoba College, Winnipeg, B.A. He became a farmer at Lemberg, Sask., and Principal of Lemberg Continuation School. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, 1914-1935, and served as Premier of Saskatchewan, 1926-1929, 1934-1935.

He was a Member of the House of Commons from 1936 to 1958 serving as Member of the Privy Council, 1935, Minister of Agriculture, 1935-1957, Minister of War Services, 1940-1941, and Member of the Imperial Privy Council, 1947.
