Desjardins, Alphonse, 1854-1920 : Alphonse Desjardins, born in 1854 at Lévis, Que., received his education from the Collège de Lévis. He entered journalism working on L'Echo de Lévis and later on the Canadien. On his own, he published the debates of the Quebec legislature from 1879 to 1890. He served as official reporter of the House of Commons from 1892 to 1917. See also: Encyclopedia Canadiana._
