Belcourt, Napoléon Antoine, 1860-1932 : Napoléon Antoine Belcourt, born in 1860 at Toronto, Ont., received his education from Laval University, LL.L. 1882, and was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1882 and of Quebec in 1884. He served as Clerk of the Peace and Crown Attorney for the County of Carleton, Ottawa, from 1894 to 1896. He was first elected to the House of Commons representing Ottawa in 1896, re-elected in 1900 and 1904. He became speaker of the House of Commons 10 March 1904 to 29 September 1904, Member of the Privy Council 12 January 1905, and was called to the Senate, 22 November 1907.
