Biography/Administrative history:

Macpherson, Jay, 1931- : Jean Jay Macpherson, born in 1931 at London, England came to Canada in 1940. She received her education from Carleton University, McGill University and the University of Toronto. She began to publish poetry in contemporary verse in 1949, her first book was published in 1952 and she won the Governor General's Award for poetry, 1958, for The Boatman. Her other works include Welcoming Disaster, 1974, and contributions of poetry and articles to numerous periodicals. Since 1953 she has taught in the Department of English, Victoria College, University of Toronto.
