Fonds consists of a copy of a diary of E.J. Wornell, recording his activities as magistrate, July - October 1919 and July - October 1926. The fonds also includes copies of court records for cases, in which Wornell served as magistrate, 1919, 1925-1926.

Wornell, Edmund John, 1874-1947 : Edmund John Wornell, born in 1874 at Greenspond, Nfld., spent his early years in the fishing industry. He was appointed magistrate for the coastal villages of Labrador in 1918. He lost his position because of political changes shortly after his appointment and regained it in 1925. He served along the Labrador coast until 1926, when he moved his family to Twillingate, Nfld., where he had obtained a position as senior magistrate.
