Fonds also consists of a portrait of Joseph N. Frank at the 1961 Zionist Congress in Jerusalem, n.d.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Frank, Joseph N., 1906-1983 : Joseph N. Frank, born in Manchester, England immigrated with his family to Montreal, Que., in 1910. He served as executive assistant and confidant to the Hon. Wilfrid L. McDougald, chairman of Beauharnois Power Corporation, Senator, 1926-1932, and close friend of Prime Minister Mackenzie King. Employed in private industry during the 1930s, he became Associate Clothing Administrator, Wartime Prices and Trade Board, 1940-1946. He later became an insurance agent with Crown Life and a life member of the Million Dollar Club, Chicago. He then established his own business, J.N. Frank Associate Inc., and was Vice President of Emdee Insurance Agency.
J.N. Frank was affiliated with the Zionist Organization of Canada, as national treasurer from 1948-1961 and national president from 1962 to 1964. He was also the national president of Young Judea in 1936 and national treasurer of the Jewish National Fund, 1955-1966. He served as a member of the Dominion Council of the Canadian Jewish Congress; and as a Governor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rechovot; and as a Founder of the Bar Ilan University of Tel Aviv. He also served on the Actions Committee to the World Zionist Congress in 1951, 1956, and 1960.Additional information:General note:Received in 1975 and 1976 from Mr. Frank; additional material received in 1984 from his family.Related material:See W.L.
