Fonds consists of papers and other documents of George Hugo Saxon, alias George Hugo Schnuphase, including passports, war service records, as well as correspondence between Saxon and the Viscount Alexander of Tunis.

Also included are photographs of Vicount Alexander of Tunis and the Governor General of Canada and his family on vacation at Silver Valley, British Columbia.

Saxon, George Hugo, 1897-1969 : George Hugo Schnuphase, soldier and gardener, born in 1897 at Dresden, Germany, changed his last name to Saxon in 1951. He fought with the German "Schützen Regiment Prinz Georg" on the Western Front during World War I. After immigrating to Canada in 1929, he worked as a market gardener, a prospector, and between 1940 and 1969 was employed by a tourist resort in Spring Valley, B.C. Saxon met the Viscount Alexander of Tunis in 1950 while the Viscount was on holiday in Silver Valley and remained in contact with him after that.
