He returned to Germany in 1935 to get married, and came back to Canada in 1950. In 1954 he joined the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to work with German immigrants; advising them on conditions in Canada, helping them find employment and representing their interests in dealing with the Canadian government. Active in the Trans-Canada Alliance of German Canadians, he was its secretary from 1951 to 1954. In 1957 he became president of the German Benevolent Society, Ottawa.
