Item is a typewritten copy of a diary kept by Consider Merrit Haight recording a journey from Adolphustown, Upper Canada, to Duchess County, New York, and a visit with relatives there in 1824. An introduction by M.Y. Williams contains genealogical information.

Williams, Merton Y : Merton Y. Williams, was born 21 June 1883 in Ontario. He was educated at Queen's and Yale. He taught in the public schools of Ontario and at both universities before joining the Faculty of the University of British Columbia in 1921. He helped to build the Department of Geology and Geography, of which he served as Head from 1936 to 1950, and he was among the pioneers in the development of the resources of British Columbia. He was the grandson of Consider Merrit Haight. He died 3 February 1974.
