Fonds consists of Davidoff's notes on the contents of the various items including a detailed explanation of events which preceded the writing of some letters, 1970; Davidoff's autobiography, 1966; parole application, 1965-1970; correspondence, mainly with Doukahobor leaders and the R.C.M.P., 1967-1970; and, printed material including issues of a Doukhobor bi-weekly and books on the history of the Doukhobors, 1944-1970.

Davidoff, Fred N., 1924- : Fred N. Davidoff is a Doukhobor who joined the Sons of Freedom in 1951 and spent nine years in prison for various nudist and fire bombing demonstrations. In 1965 he broke with the Sons of Freedom, and after his 1967 release on parole, joined the more peaceful Doukhobor groups. Since 1967 he has consistently opposed the Sons of Freedom, who, in his opinion, have abandoned the traditional Doukhobor ideals.

General note:

Nearly half of the correspondence consisted of copies produced by a photo-chemical process. Since this material degenerates rapidly and erodes contiguous paper, it has been boxed separately, volume 4. Xerox copies thereof were filed with the original correspondence.
