The fonds consists of three manuscripts written by William B. Cameron: "The War Trail of Big Bear", a typescript manuscript of the second edition, n.d., 72 pages; "When Fur Was King", his edited typescript version of the autobiography of Henry John Moberley, n.d., 144 pages; and "Peeaychew Liked Him" a typescript account of two Cree Indians on the Eagle Hills reserve in Saskatchewan, n.d., 2 pages.

Cameron, William Bleasdell, 1862-1951 : Born and educated in Trenton, Ontario, William Bleasdell Cameron went to the Northwest in 1881 and worked as a clerk in the Hudson's Bay Company store at Frog Lake. He was the sole male survivor of the Frog Lake Massacre during the rebellion of 1885. Cameron was taken prisoner by Big Bear's band of Cree Indians and held captive for two months. He recounted this adventure in The War Trail of Big Bear (Toronto: Ryerson Press, 1926), with a second edition appearing in 1927 and a third edition in 1950. He also founded and edited the Vermillion Signal, served on the town council of Vermillion, Alta., and was briefly editor of Field and Stream, New York.
