Kingsford, Rupert Etherage, 1849-1920 : Rupert Kingsford, lawyer and son of William Kingsford, became a barrister in 1873, and occupied a number of official posts, including Secretary of the Ontario Consolidation Commission, 1877, and the Consolidated Schools Act Commission, 1897. He was a police magistrate for many years in Toronto and in 1900 became Italian Consul there. He served in the Militia, and was a member of the executive committee of the British Empire League and the President of the Canadian Defence League. The author of a number of legal works, Kingsford also wrote a paper on Imperial organization, and a three-act drama entitled "Waterloo".
