Fonds consists of reminiscences of E.V. Neeland's work on the Nipissing and Algoma Boundary Survey, 1898-1899, in Columbia, 1921, and in the Gold Coast Colony, in the 1930's. Also included is an address to mining students in Yellowknife, ca. 1948 and some biographical information. Original, 36 pages. The fonds also contains a photocopied article "Some Adventures on the Abitibi", 1899. 8 pages.

Neelands, Ernest Victor, 1878-1957 : Ernest V. Neelands was born in Lindsay, Ontario. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1901, he worked until 1915 as a surveyor, miner, shift boss and engineer at mines in Ontario, British Columbia and the western United States. From 1915-1933 he worked as an independent consulting engineer and later as manager of the Nipissing Mining Company at Cobalt. His later work with such companies as Ventures Limited, Canadian Malartic Gold Mines, Sherritt Gordon Mines Limited and others took him to Venezuela, Honduras, Columbia, New Guinea and Australia. In 1945-1946, Neelands was President of the Ontario Mining Association.
