Rowe, Valentine Francis, 1841-1920 : Valentine F. Rowe was born 2 August 1841. He joined the Royal Engineers and received his Lieutenant's commission in December 1862. He was promoted to Captain, 1 April 1872, and received his majority on 17 December 1882. He retired in August 1884 as a Major with the honourary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He was on the North American Boundary Commission in 1873-74.
