Fonds consists of correspondence; biographical information; clippings and cards; minutes, newsletters, bulletins, commemorative booklets and other documents relating to Polish Canadian organizations & churches; notes, articles, speeches and other research materials used in the preparation of History and Integration of Poles in Canada (1967); printed matter.

The fonds also contains photographs depicting various churches in Edmonton, Alberta and Barry's Bay, Ontario.

Biography/Administrative history:

Makowski, William, 1924-2012 : William B. Makowski was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1946. He graduated from the University of Montreal and did post-graduate work there, in the area of ethnic studies. In 1958, he became a teacher. Makowski has published numerous articles and several books on ethnic studies chiefly about the Polish Canadian community. The most important of these is History and Integration of Poles in Canada (1967). He is also the author of The Polish People in Canada: A Visual History, (1987).
