Rybikowski, Michal, b. 1900 : Michal Rybikowski, soldier and academic, was born of Polish parentage in the Vilno region of the Russian Empire. He joined the Polish General Staff in 1924, and became Chief of Intelligence, western section, in 1939. He was active against Germany throughout the war, with support from the Japanese Ambassador in Sweden. For these services, he was created a member of the Order of the British Empire.

He came to Canada in 1949, to teach at the University of Montreal, and has been active in the Polish Canadian community.
