Fonds consists of an anonymous account of the war record of the Battalion with annotations by a Major Warren, original, 62 pages; a journal kept by the Battalion's chaplain, Captain, the Rev. H.I. Horsey, and the service records of individual members of the Battalion, photocopies, 318 pages.

Canada. Canadian Army. Ottawa Infantry Battalion, 38th : On 16 August 1916, the 38th Ottawa Infantry Battalion arrived in France. The Battalion fought at the Somme, November 1916; Vimy Ridge, April 1917; Passchendaele, autumn 1917; Arras and Lens Front, spring 1918; and at Valenciennes just prior to the Armistice. The Battalion took up the watch on the Rhine after the Armistice.
