Best, Thomas Frederick, 1863-1938 : Thomas Frederick Best, soldier, was the Young Men's Christian Association (Y.M.C.A.) secretary in Brantford, Ont. At the outbreak of the South African War, he went to South Africa as the Y.M.C.A. representative to the Canadian Mounted Rifles. After lecturing and evangelizing for the Y.M.C.A. in Canada, during the World War I he served with the Military Field Service Department of the Y.M.C.A., and was attached to the 2nd Canadian Division as the senior Y.M.C.A. officer. After the war, he served as the Y.M.C.A. secretary in Hamilton, Ont.
