Fonds consists of six letters written by Pullen to his sister during his service overseas with the Canadian Field Artillery, 30th and 11th Battery, 1916-1918, a biographical sketch of Pullen by his son, 1979, and a commemorative booklet of the 11th Battery which contains a brief historical sketch of the unit and a nominal list of officers and men and their period of service, 1919.

The photograph depicts port quarter view of H.M. Schooner tentatively identified as H.M.S. Tecumseth.

Pullen, Hugh Clapp, 1895-1952 : Hugh Clapp Pullen, military officer, was born in 1895 at Binghamton, N.Y., and was educated in New York state and at Trinity College, Port Hope, Ont. In 1915, he enlisted in the 2nd Division Canadian Field Artillery (C.F.A.), 30th Battery of the 8th Brigade and was sent overseas in 1916. After extensive battle experience in France, he was promoted to Sergeant and in 1918 returned to England to attend officer training school. Commissioned as a Lieutenant, Pullen returned to France and served with the 11th Battery of the 3rd Brigade C.F.A. He was discharged in 1919.
