Fonds consists of diaries, 1916-1919, of F. Lacey. The diaries are very detailed and record Lacey's views on the progress of the war, the recreational pursuits of the troops outside of battle, the camraderie experienced by the combattants and the battles, shelling and wounds endured. The diaries also include one notebook dealing with the post bellum situation in Great Britain.

Lacey, F : F. Lacey was a soldier with the 3rd Troop A Squad, Royal Canadian Dragoons during the first world war. The Royal Dragoons Regiment was mobilized in September 1914 and was despatched to England in October and to France in May 1915. The Royal Canadian Dragoons served both as infantry, with the 1st Canadian Division during 1915 and as cavalry between 1916 and 1918 in the Canadian Cavalry Brigade of the (British) Cavalry Corps.

Lacey wrote very detailed entires in his diaries. He discussed the progress of the war and the camaraderie experienced among the combatants. He also wrote extensively about the battles his Regiment endured and those wounded. It is unknown when Lacey died.
