Fonds consists of "An autobiography of World 1" by William Green, 111th Infantry South Waterloo Battalion and the 4th Canadian Infantry Battalion. The memoirs describe his military training in Galt, Ont., his arrival at the front, the daily activities of digging trenches in France and the Battles of Vimy Ridge and Hill 70. He describes his emotions and the events leading up to the Armistice. The document covers the years 1915 to 1919. Photocopy, 16 pages.

Green, William A., b. 1897 : William A. Green, born in 1897 at Peterborough, England, immigrated to Canada in 1910. He enlisted in 1915 in the 111th Infantry South Waterloo Battalion and landed in England in 1916. He was transferred to the 4th Canadian Infantry Battalion and spent the next two and one-half years in the trenches, taking part in the Battles of Vimy Ridge and Hill 70. He was demobilized on 23 May 1919.
